Surgical working group for transplantation (CAT)
(Chirurgische Arbeitsgemeinschaft Transplantation - CAT)
The surgical working group for transplantation (Chirurgische Arbeitsgemeinschaft Transplantation - CAT) represents the focus on transplantation surgery within the DGAV.
Aims and tasks
The CAT is concerned with all aspects of visceral organ transplantation and has become an integral part of surgery. The area of interest covers surgical-technical questions, but also economic and ethical aspects. This also includes all subtasks associated with organ donation, such as the coordination of multicenter studies on donor care and management or the quality assurance of organ removal operations.
The CAT conducts an annual workshop on selected topics from across the entire range of the areas mentioned above. The working group also participates in special workshops on organ transplantation.
In this context, the CAT aims to support especially practice-oriented advanced training courses for learning certain OR techniques.
Other important tasks of the CAT are:
- Preparation, co-organization and guidance of local, national and international conventions, symposiums and workshops
- Continued collaboration and cooperation with other German and European societies, for example
- Initiation and guidance of scientific studies
