Surgical working group for endoscopy and sonography (CAES)
(Chirurgische Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Endoskopie und Sonografie, CAES)
The surgical working group for endoscopy and sonogrpahy (Chirurgische Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Endoskopie und Sonografie - CAES) was founded in Hamburg in 1972 as the first working group of the German Society of Surgery (DGC). After temporarily splitting into two separate working groups, the two foci were joined together again into one working group in 1999. From its members, the surgical working group for minimally invasive surgery (CAMIC) was formed in 1996.
Aims
The CAES coordinates surgical activities in the areas of endoscopy and sonography. The working group realizes the interests of its active members and provides professional guidance to the steering committee.
The CAES initiates approaches to the further development of surgical-endoscopic and surgical-sonographic methods and supports advanced training in these areas. The CAES also works to promote quality assurance and supports interdisciplinary cooperations.
