Rudolf Nissen Prize

The Rudolf Nissen Prize is awarded every two years to a visceral surgeon whose overall surgical achievements have contributed to medical advancement in gastroenterology or gastroenterological surgery. The recipient of the prize also receives a €5000 award, which is sponsored by Ethicon.

Walter Kausch Medal

Every two years, the DGAV awards the Walter Kausch Medal to a visceral surgeon whose overall surgical achievements have significantly contributed to medical advancement in liver, gall bladder and pancreatic surgery. The prize is sponsored by Solvay, Hannover. Between the years in which the medal is awarded, travel grants for visceral surgeons in the amount of €5000 are available.
